BB Partner Profile: Candice Aiston

It takes a village to raise a child, and as an agency we cultivate a village of partner providers who support our clients in making the childbearing year nurtured, healthy and vibrant.

Each month, we profile one of our partners - it’s one more way in which we strive to weave a comprehensive safety net for our clients and build up other local businesses who are also working to shift toward a culture that truly respects and cherishes families.

Dovetailing with National Estate Planning Awareness Week (October 18-24, 2021), this month, we’re featuring partner and Portland estate planning attorney Candice Aiston. While it’s hard to imagine a future in which our young children are left without us to care for them, it’s harder still to imagine this might happen without a plan in place for their care. This is exactly the kind of thing that Candice helps parents with young children to think through.

Candice came to this work through her own experience - when she was a young child, her mother died without a plan in place. Seeing how disastrously this can play out, and knowing that bad things happen to good people, Candice was driven to create a plan for the care of her own kids and her assets if something were to happen to her. She went on to provide this service to friends and family; then built a legal practice with a focus on guiding families in creating comprehensive, personalized estate plans.

Planning ahead for your children’s needs is an expression of deep care - and can feel like a daunting task. We’re glad that there are professionals like Candice who, with compassion and smarts, help us navigate all of the details and the what-ifs to protect our kids, our assets and our peace of mind.
