Whitney Handrich

Certified Postpartum Doula, LMT | she/her

“Not only is Whitney an amazing doula, but also a LMT. She brought a table the second night and gave my wife a much needed massage.”

—Cody

Whitney didn’t expect her background as a Korean-born adoptee to influence her professional decisions in such an encompassing way. She knew that there were parts of her story that she wanted to explore, but she first channeled that energy into a passion for working with vulnerable communities in the US and abroad. When she later met her birth family Whitney learned that despite struggling economically at the time she was relinquished, her birth parents were married and had other children. This revelation marked the intersection of Whitney’s personal history and her desire to provide meaningful service to others. She decided that, as a doula, she could provide to other families the support that her birth family didn’t have.

Whitney is dedicated to serving growing families and loves that her work as a doula allows her to combine both physical and emotional support over an extended time. A naturally supportive, compassionate person, Whitney’s professional history of working with children, and as a yoga teacher and massage therapist, gives her a big toolbox. Whitney particularly enjoys drawing on her personal experience when serving non-traditional and adoptive families. She is grateful that her career as a doula is both personally rewarding and speaks to her core values.

When she is not serving families, Whitney loves to study and learn. She volunteers regularly and is a co-founder of the Humans of Color Movement Alliance - a collective for supporting Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. When she has time, Whitney can be found hiking, traveling, and cooking.
