Resources for Raising Conscious Kids: May Edition

As an agency, Bridgetown Baby is deeply committed to confronting bias within ourselves, building our skills, and creating an inclusive model of care that authentically serves our clients and contributes to culture change. This is work we all can do. It starts with us; it continues with our children - and we are their most important teachers. Each month, we'll be sharing resources for talking with kids about bias, celebrating differences, and actions our families can take to create a world we all can live in.

With Father’s Day just around the corner, we can get started on the celebrations a bit early with a book that captures the many facets of fathering.

In Daddy Speaks Love, Leah Henderson’s straightforward and moving prose speaks to the many values that dads model and teach their children, among them Love, Truth, Pride, Learning… E.B. Lewis’ often poignant watercolor illustrations accompany, beautifully depicting moments between child and parent.

Daddy Speaks Love makes a great selection for any father or fathering figure, and you can find it at local, independent, Black-owned Third Eye Books or your local library.
