The Breathe Act divests taxpayer dollars from brutal and discriminatory policing and invests in a new vision of public safety—a vision that answers the call to defund the police and centers the protection of Black lives, including Black mothers, Black trans people, and Black women.

BB doulas' Racial Justice Study Group meets monthly to work together on understanding our roles in perpetuating - and mitigating - systemic racism.

One action component our group has undertaken is writing GOTV postcards to help shift local and national leadership toward a social justice focus.

Meeting the basic nutritional needs of children fulfills the human right of food security; it is also an act of social justice that moves toward a more level playing field for all families, especially during these difficult economic times. 

Portland Public Schools announced this month that they are offering 7 days’ worth of meals every week for not just PPS students, but all Portland children ages 1-18.
